Cake and Ice Cream

Last night, my husband and I had his father over for cake and ice cream. It was my father-in-law's 55th birthday! In effort to keep myself away from the cake, I bought a really small one. Even so, there was still half of the cake left. The other half is sitting in my fridge as I write this. I have had enough self control to not have a piece, so far! Instead, I had two 100 calorie ice cream cups for my dessert. They were easier to calculate nutrition-wise and just as yummy!

The last time that we had my father-in-law over was for our Memorial Day Picnic this year. We had all four sides of our family over, actually. By hosting this picnic, I was able to cross an item off of my 25 by 25 list; "host a family picnic". By having my father-in-law over last night, I am another step closer to crossing off "invite father-in-law over for dinner 5 times" this year, too! I kind of feel bad that I had to put something like that on my list, but it was something that we weren't good at doing last year. By making it a goal to accomplish before I turn 25, I am looking for any opportunity to have him over for dinner. Hopefully this habit will stick with us through next year, too. We are horrible at inviting people to come over to our house. I think we are just so use to some people stopping by whenever they want!

After running our first 5K this past weekend, both my husband and I seem to be up a bit on the scales. I am wondering if this is normal after a race? Let me know if you have heard about or have experienced this before. We are both stumped! (And yes, the rise in the number on the scale did occur before the cake and ice cream from last night!)

    I'm not sure about the race weight....water retention? When my workouts vary, I see weird fluctuations too, then one day I'll be down 2lbs or something. Crazy bodies.

    Good job avoiding the cake for now. It's totally a mental game. Every time you look at it, try to imagine that lump of cake under your clothes, stuck to a hip, under your chin, flapping along with other arm fat. Do you have room in your skinniest pants to tuck that half a cake?

    Works for me, it suddenly doesn't look so good :D
