I Went All Drama Queen

I very much did not want to go to the gym last night.

My (super incredible) husband surprised me with dishes done, laundry in, and candles lit when I got home last night. With so much of my "to do list" taken care of, I felt like I was done for the night. I got all cozy on the couch after dinner and almost let myself completely forget about my plans for the gym.

Okay, so I didn't exactly forget about my gym plans; it was more of an avoidance. With the promise of a treadmill in my very own home in less than one week, it was hard to convince myself to go out in the rain and drive the one mile to the high school gym, where it is free to use. It's a tough life, right? I know I have it easy, and yet it was still hard to get myself moving!

Sometimes the biggest obstacle I face is my own mind. I eventually overcame my procrastination and got to the gym exactly 30 minutes before it closed for the night. I decided to get right to it and hammered out my REAL fastest mile, yet! No magic treadmill, needed. (For more on the "magic treadmill" you can click here and here.)

Just in case you are wondering, I have found so far that there is only one acceptable time to lay on the dirty gym floor and that time is immediately after running your fastest mile.

I got fairly dizzy (and apparently had trouble opening my left eye, as evidenced in the photo below) after pushing myself so hard. Since nobody was around, I went all drama queen and layed on the floor like I had died.

I may or may not have taken a ten minute "nap" while laying on the cold cement floor. The picture above was taken after my "nap". If you ask me, the term "passing out" is relative. My husband wasn't happy to find this out when I got home. He said something about it not being safe to push myself that far without anybody else around. I know he's right, but I have to tell you, that was the best ten minute "nap" of my life. Thank you dirty cold cement gym floor, but I think I'll just take it easy next time.

What makes you feel good after a hard workout?
-Aside from the gym floor, the cold shower afterward was quite nice!
