I Gave Up

My garmin 410 and I are in a fight.

Usually, I love my garmin. Actually, I still do. I just got very frustrated last night. I was running with my garmin and it died on me. It died just as I was about to turn into my 4th lap on the track. This, of course, is my fault for not charging it before my run. The garmin beeped at me with the low-battery warning during the second lap; I just thought it would make it through my mile run. Wrong.

I was mad that my garmin quit, so I just stopped running and drove home. Once I pulled in the driveway, I just sat there for a minute. My eyes welled up with tears. I was mad. I was running one of my fastest miles, yet. I was trying so hard and then felt like I ran in to a wall. Without the garmin, I gave up. I was mad that I gave up. It was a frustrating night. Today will be better. The garmin has been charging since last night so it will be ready for me when I get home. I usually take a day off in between runs, but I'm ready to give it another go, tonight.

I think that if I would have kept going, I would have reached my goal of completing a 12:30 minute mile. I was definitely running out of steam when the garmin shut off, but I had some more left in me. I just chose to quit because I was mad. I'm going to make up for that, tonight!

Even though it's Wednesday, I really want to write out my plans for the week. Usually I list this all on Sunday or Monday, however; I was a little thrown off by Labor Day weekend. Here's what I've done so far this week, and what I still want to do:

Workouts for the week:

Sunday - Run (done)
Monday - Rest (done)
Tuesday - Run (done)
Wednesday - Run
Thursday - Yoga
Friday - Rest
Saturday - Run


Dinner plans for the week:

Sunday - Labor day picnic (done)
Monday - Another picnic (done)
Tuesday - Chicken Salads (done)
Wednesday - Fish with Zucchini and Pasta
Thursday - Chicken Salads
Friday - Melt in Your Mouth Chicken with Zucchini
Saturday - Lasagna Roll-Ups

  1. Sorry your Garmin died ... funny how much we rely on the feedback from our gadgets.

    I've been working on "running" (jogging) a WHOLE mile lately too. The elliptical is no problem, but running continuously sure is!

    And sorry about the Garmin - I was CRUISING at one point during a run (like, mile PR cruising!) and then i realized the Nike + app had paused :(
