Tips for Holiday Maintenance

I hope my post from yesterday didn't make me sound like a Grinch.

It is true that the holidays are busy, and at times, downright crazy. However, it is also true that the holiday craze is worth it. Nothing beats time spent with friends and family, and the holidays are filled with it!

Tonight, my husband and I will be attending a Christmas Party hosted by the company he works for. I had a great time at this party with him last year, and we are both looking forward a "night out" this evening!

In sticking with the "Maintain, Don't Gain" theme this holiday season (thanks, Highmark), I have come up with four tips for myself to follow these next couple of weeks.

1. Don't go all out on food. Just because I'm not trying to lose weight right now, doesn't mean this is an excuse to overeat.

2. Go all out on exercise. Same as above, slightly different. Just because I'm not trying to lose weight right now, doesn't mean this is an excuse to give up on my workouts.

3. Get Full on Fruits and Veggies. Holiday parties (like the one we're going to tonight) will most likely have a few healthy options available. Stock up on the fruits and vegetables first. Leaving less room for the "bad stuff".

4. Drink up! Water, that is. Make an effort to drink more water. Change social eating at holiday parties to social drinking. Keep a glass of water in hand!

I'm going to keep tips # 1, 3 and 4 in mind as I enjoy the Christmas party this evening.
Tip # 2 was already taken care of for the day!
