Dental Work Stinks

I will be so happy once my root canal is over.

My appointment is at 3:30 p.m. and it's all I can think about. I am worried about complications, during and after. I have been anxious all day, and I just can't wait to rest.

Speaking of rest, today is my rest day. I have been doing well with sticking to my exercise plan this week. My food intake could use some help. When I am anxious, I eat. I eat a lot. I have been eating more than I should be, mostly at and after dinner. I think that after this procedure, I will be able to have more self control. Anxiety is a big trigger for me, and I am trying to work on it.

I have read all of your comments about tips for what I should do after my root canal. Thank you for commenting, readers! I did buy some slim fast shakes after work yesterday, and I plan on having one for dinner tonight, and one for breakfast in the morning.

I don't have much information from my actual doctor yet, I'm assuming I will get directions and/or a packet of instructions after the procedure. I am assuming that I won't be able to chew on that side of my mouth, at least until the permanent filling is in place.

Speaking of the permanent filling, that's just another reason why I am dreading this procedure. It's a procedure that requires follow-up. More shots in my mouth, more pain. I'm not a fan.

Dental work, stinks. Wish me luck.

  1. Oh no oh no oh no. Sorry you are stressed and nervous. Here's the deal...ROOT CANALS ARE NOT THAT BAD! Repeat after me: ROOT CANALS ARE NOT THAT BAD. Honestly, they aren't. And you'll have a temporary filling in your tooth so you can still chew on that side, just nothing crazy like taffy or anything. The follow up is just a drop in the bucket. I promise.
One more time: ROOT CANALS ARE NOT THAT BAD! It's just like a filling but take a little more time. Besides, when it's done it doesn't hurt because there's no root in the tooth, therefore no tooth pain. I swear it!
I'm have four root canals in my life (I have soft teeth) so trust me when I tell you I know what I'm talking about!
