First Trimester: Weeks 9 - 13

Today is the first day of my second trimester! I just can't believe I'm finally here! I am so happy, overjoyed, awestruck and feeling blessed! This little miracle is so loved already!

Since I gave you an overview of how weeks 4-8 of my first trimester went for me, I am going to give you an overview of weeks 9-13, as well! (Spoiler alert: things have been getting better, and better!)

Ginger ale and crackers helped a lot this first trimester!

Week 9:
Feeling a little more normal this week!
Finding that I have a little more energy after work compared to previous weeks!
Still going to bed at 6 p.m. some nights, but mostly 9 p.m. bedtimes.
Taking Tums between 4 a.m. - 5 a.m. each morning to help ease the heartburn.
Starving in the morning but hunger seems to calm down after lunch.

Week 10:
Constant hunger in the mornings continue, and lasting a little longer throughout the day.
Working on getting more water in this week; seems to help ease dizziness.
New routine: large glass of milk with chocolate ovaltine *first thing* when I wake up.
Clothes are starting to fit a little snug!
Aversion from meat but finding that it's not really bad if I try a bite.
Favorite meal: Grilled cheese and tomato soup.
Morning sickness continues but not happening as much throughout the day/evening.
Midnight snacks seem to help the morning sickness.

Week 11:
Eating a little more healthy this week since I'm having less nausea.
Learned that I wake up less dizzy if I sleep on my left side.
Craving: tomato mozzarella on caibatta bread with balsamic vinaigrette.
Hunger has increased.
Slight cramping, nothing to worry about. Mostly just from the baby growing!
Definitely time to start shopping for looser clothes.

Week 12:
Feeling even more back to normal this week!
Little to no nausea, much less fatigue, but still needing an early bedtime.
Some back discomfort this week, mostly when trying to sleep.
The more pillows around me, the happier I am. (And so it begins)
Craving CARBS, carbs and more carbs!
Heartburn is horrible. Thank God for Tums!
Saw the baby doing flips during the ultrasound. Best moment of my life.

Week 13:
Having some good days and bad days this week. Mostly good, though!
Super tired and needing to eat frequently!
New craving: Egg salad sandwiches. Can't get enough!
Bought 3 new dresses for my expanding tummy. So glad for comfy clothes!
Had enough energy to walk 1.25 miles with my husband on a cool evening. It was wonderful!
Some more back issues, thankful for my chiropractor!

The first trimester was definitely harder than I imagined it would be, but I can already say that it was all completely worth it! Just being able to see my happy baby doing flips during the ultrasound made it all worth it for me. I'm so proud, thankful and blessed to have made it through my first trimester. And I'm so excited to see what comes next!
