Healthy Tip Sunday

So, it happened again. After a week of doing well, we started eating out more often this week. It's just so easy to do when you're pregnant but, it's not a necessity. Even though my brain really thinks that a bacon egg and cheese bagel from McDonald's is a necessity right now. On second thought, I have all the ingredients at home to make a bacon egg and cheese muffin, so that's what's going to happen instead.

That actually brings me to healthy tip number one today. If you're craving something bad, make a healthier version at home. As I was on my journey of losing 100 pounds before getting pregnant this Spring, one thing that helped me lose the weight was to limit my days spent eating out. Maybe that's part of the reason why I am going so crazy with eating out now that I'm pregnant. (Or maybe it's because it's so much easy, quicker and my cravings tend to lean that way.) Regardless, there's a healthier solution! If you're craving pizza, make it at home. (And here's a recipe to do so.) This tip is healthy for your diet and your wallet.




As for healthy tip number two, it's really easy. Drink enough water, daily. It may even be wise for you to limit your soda and juice intake, while you're at it. Or, it could just happen on it's own since most people are recommending these days that you drink half of your weight in ounces of water each day! For me, that tends to leave little room for other liquids because 117 ounces of water is a lot to fit in.

Healthy tip number three is one that I need to work on, myself. Fit in more activity in your day. It doesn't have to be a 5K run, either. Sometimes just a walk after dinner is all you can give and that's okay! During my pregnancy, this has been a hard transition. I have not been running like I was prior to getting pregnant. I stopped running once I found out I was pregnant for my own personal reasons, and to be honest, I really miss it. But, I will be running again next year. (Even if it is running around like a chicken with my head cut off.)  So, in the meantime, walking and yoga and other alternatives is enough and I've got to continue to remind myself this.
