Three Weeks with Piper

Yesterday, my girl Piper turned 3 weeks old!

Each week has been special in its own way, however, week 3 is very exciting for us! Piper starting making "cooing" sounds, some of which have really taken us by surprise! Also, we started doing tummy time in the mornings (and after her afternoon nap if she allows). She is so strong; she lifts her head and turns it from side to side. Momma's proud, alright.

The nights have been great for the most part (knock on wood). I don't know what more I could ask for at this point; she is up about 2-3 times at night. We don't keep her to a schedule, we let her do her own thing. She lets us know when she is hungry and when she wants to sleep. The past day or two, her own schedule has looked something like this (give or take an hour or two):

Sleep at 8 p.m.
Awake for feeding at 12 a.m.
Sleep at 1 a.m.
Awake for feeding at 3 a.m.
Sleep at 4 a.m.
Awake for feeding at 6:30 a.m.
Sleep at 7:30 a.m. (or stay up through 10 a.m. feeding)
Awake for feeding at 10:00 a.m.
Sleep at 11:00 a.m.
Awake for feeding at 3:00 p.m.
Sleep at 4:00 p.m. (or stay up through 7 p.m. feeding)
Awake at 7 p.m. for feeding
Sleep at 8 p.m.

Some days, when she stays up from the 3 p.m. feeding to the 7 p.m. feeding she can be a little fussy. However, I wouldn't consider it "witching hours" quite yet. She does a really good job at just hanging out, looking around, and being cute.

When she eats, she can eat anywhere from 2 oz. to 4 oz. We always make 4 oz. of formula just in case she wants it all, which happens a couple times a day.

As for me, I am still healing from my c-section and growing a little impatient with recovery. I have strained myself a couple times, which gives me a day or so of pain. Lately, I have been taking it easy though.

Little Miss. Attitude

I am really looking forward to the day when I am able to haul loads of laundry up and down the stairs without hurting myself. Also, I can't wait to be able to carry Piper in her car seat, that way we can get out of the house every once in a while throughout the day. Right now, I have been getting out with the help of my husband. Thankfully, he is very happy to go for rides with us after he gets home from work.

Some of my favorite things to do with Piper during our days together is sing and dance for her. She really seems to enjoy it and she doesn't even mind if I don't get the words right. She pretty much thinks I'm the coolest person in the world, and I'm not about to clue her in on the truth that she should be looking at dad for that title. She'll find out soon enough.

Her favorite songs for me to sing to her have seemed to be "You Are My Sunshine" and "Part of Your World" from the Little Mermaid. She also loves to listen to the Dylan Holton Pandora Station with me and watch me dance while I try to get a little housework done. We're a good team, and she keeps me smiling throughout the day!
