Piper Grace: 5 Months

It's time for another Piper update; actually, it's well past time for an update. I am a little behind as Piper is now 6 months old, but I haven't forgotten all of the wonderful things about Piper's 5th month with us.

Five months old was the beginning of SO MUCH FUN! Looking back on all the other months, I'd have to say that month 5 was my favorite, hands down.

Piper dropped her dream feed this month. This was extremely bitter-sweet for us. It was bitter because the dream feed was the only time she'd be asleep in our arms. Ever since about 4 months old, Piper has insisted on being set in her Rock n Play and left alone to fall asleep. She would just cry in our arms, so we gave that a try one day and she has put herself to sleep ever since. Gone (hopefully not forever) are the days of my baby falling asleep in my arms. Bitter, indeed. It has also been sweet, however, because she began sleeping from 8 p.m. - 6:30/7:00 a.m. Very, very sweet!

On the morning of June 29th, I caught a glimpse of two little white teeth beneath Piper's gums. Not even a week later, those two teeth emerged and now her smile is even cuter than ever (if you can only imagine that).

During her 5th month with us, Piper began sitting up on her own (with you ready to catch her at any time) and she began eating solids! A taste of frozen custard was the start of it all, but that was just a little taste and just for fun. Her real first food was carrots, and after just a few tries, she has become a master of opening wide for the carrot train! Piper loves food; go figure.

Piper Likes:
Everything from our last post, and...

Exploring new things with dad.

Being outside!

Sitting on dad's tractor.

Basically -- she's a daddy's girl.

She loves our pond.

She is so happy when she is standing {assisted}.

She loved her first taste of ice cream!

She enjoys watching us cook.

She loves to sit up, and she loves her dogs!

She really enjoys carrots.

She loves to feed herself!

Sitting up like a big girl.

She loves to reach out and touch things that interest her.

Piper Grace, my heart, it melts for your smile. We could be having such a hard time {mostly when it comes to teething} and just when I don't think I can handle it anymore, you do something incredible. You smile. And that smile is like caffeine for my heart. Your smile doesn't just light up a room; it lights me up. It lifts me up; it makes me so happy! You are the most amazing little person I could have ever hoped to parent. My girl, I love you.
