Piper Grace: Six Months

If I had to describe Piper's sixth month with us in just one word, I would have to say it has been: FUN!

A lot of changes happened this past month! Piper was introduced to a few more foods; she finally switched from being strolled around in the infant seat attached to the stroller, to now, strolling around front facing (of course, we keep her rear facing when in our vehicle), and; she mastered rolling over from belly to back, both left and right!

Piper loves to go for stroller rides at the park {about 4 times a week right now}. This is nice for my husband and I, too. She is working on dropping her evening nap (from 6-7 pm) and so she gets bored/fussy around that time. Our solution has been to take her for a stroller ride. She loves it! Some evenings she stays awake, just taking in her surroundings, and other nights she takes a little nap while we stroll her around. Evening family walks have been a big favorite of ours (and a must) this month!

For the most part* her daily schedule at 6 months looks something like this:

Wake anytime from 6:30 - 7:30 a.m.
Feed bottle at 7 or 8 a.m.
Snuggle together
Nap at 9:30/10:00 a.m.
Feed "breakfast" at 10:30 a.m. (carrots, sweet potatoes and/or green beans)
Feed bottle at 11:00 a.m.
Play, go for a walk and/or run errands
Nap at 11:30/12:00 p.m.
Feed bottle at 2:00 p.m.
Play and watch mom clean or cook
Nap at 2:30/3:00 p.m.
Feed bottle at 5:00 p.m.
Family walk at the park, splash in the pool and/or bath time
Feed bottle at 7:00 or 7:30 p.m.
Sleep 8:00 - 8:30 p.m.
*Times tend to vary day by day as I still act upon her cues. However, this is the general schedule she likes to keep at 6 months.

When Piper is fighting sleep, my husband found that she'll go down easy with a little bit of Hawaiian music playing. She loves Bob Marley and anything with an island feel to it; just like her momma!

Also, when it comes to music, we have found that the "Clair de lune" by Debussy is a necessity for any car ride {on repeat}. That may have something to do with me playing that song almost every day on my car rides to and from work while I was pregnant with her. It was so soothing to me. I remember {like it was yesterday} that she liked our car rides together, too. I could feel her kick around almost every ride home in those later months. So tell me, how is she already 6 months old?

Piper loves being outside! She loves to grab the grass, watch our pond waterfalls and she really loves to look up at trees. We often feed her bottles while sitting in a recliner in the living room; right next to the recliner are two big windows, giving view to our big tree out front. Piper is always looking at the tree, smiling after every feeding. Sometimes she will even giggle when the leaves sway. It's so cute!

At Piper's 6 month well visit with the pediatrician, we found out that she is 27" tall, weighs 20 lbs. 5 oz., and that her head is in the 98th percentile for size at 45 cm. Our big, beautiful, smart girl!

Piper Likes:
Everything from our last post, and...

Swimming in her pool! This picture is from her first dip in the pool.

Riding the tractor with dad!
This also was a first for her, she loved sitting on dad's lap while driving around.

Going to the beach for the first time, playing in the sand and watching the water.

Piper Dislikes:

- Trash bags
- Cold water
- Blow dryer
- Vacuum

I can't believe that it's already been half a year since we welcomed our baby girl to this world! In some ways it feels like she's always been with us. Other ways, it seems like time is just going way too fast!

Piper Grace, your beauty blossoms with each day that passes. Your father and I are so proud of every new accomplishment you achieve. We feel such happiness when you learn new things. We love to hear your giggle; it makes our souls dance with joy. You, my girl, are a wonder. We are so blessed to know you, to parent you and to watch you grow.
