Remainder of August Goals

{In case you missed it -- I posted Piper's 6 month update, here.}

Usually, I try to make a goal (or goals) for myself at the beginning of each month. I did not make any goals for myself at the beginning of August and guess what -- my weight-loss efforts are suffering from it. We're 10 days into August and I'm not going to wait until the next month to set goals. I'm going to make some new goals for myself right now.

(Remainder of) August Goals:
- Drink 120 oz. of water per day
- Use the Sparkpeople App to track calorie intake, daily
- Workout 30 minutes / 3 times per week

There's only 21 days left in August. These are some basic goals, but they are the things that I continue to find a struggle in my "new life".




This new life (of being a stay at home mom) is as hard as it is rewarding. Being at home with my daughter in the summer months has been really, really amazing! This has honestly been the best summer I think I've had since I was a senior in high school. Every day is like summer vacation. I am loving it! Piper is the perfect age to just pick up and go with me; to the beach, to the park... anywhere! We have been having a lot of fun during these summer days and I one thing I have noticed is that while having fun, I have been indulging in a little too many treats.

My weight this summer has kind of sky rocketed, and fast. I went from 235 lbs. to 245 lbs. in just a month or so. That's one downside to having PCOS; it seems that if I'm not trying to lose weight, then I'm gaining it. I'm not really too upset about my weight gain this past month, because I really have been having the time of my life. However, it's about time that I start also working toward my goal of losing weight, again, so that I can continue to live the life that I so enjoy.

  1. I struggle EVERY summer with summer weight gain! And, its about 10 lbs. In fact, I am there now. So I gotta get back to it.

  2. Summer is so hard. You would think that it would be easier to lose or maintain being that we can be more active, but there are so many parties, picnics, wedding, and just fun food that it's so hard but you know what? We can do this! :)

    1. You're right! Generally, I feel more busy in the summer too -- trying to get to most out of every bit of it. I feel like I have more time to focus on my goals when there's less running around. I'm not wishing for cooler weather, but a little "slow down" will be nice :)

  3. I can't believe we're almost halfway through August and I still haven't written down my goals for the month either! I'm going to take a cue from you and write down "Remainder of August" Goals. I feel the same way about PCOS... if I'm not actively trying to lose weight, then I'm gaining! I've come to terms with the fact that I will probably always have to journal my food if I ever want to maintain my weight.
