Why Do I Blog

I'M BACK from a little summer break from blogging! Did you miss me? I hope so, because although I was having tons of fun with my family, I must say, I missed sharing my day-to-day here on this blog. My little summer break from blogging really got me thinking about why I love to blog, and why I will continue to do so.

What began as a tool to help keep me accountable while losing weight, has grown in my heart to be a place where I share so many fond memories and current happenings with my family. If you know me in real life, then you know that I have been plagued with a terrible memory. It's not a new thing, I (surprisingly) remember when I was a child that my grandma told me that I had a worse memory than she did. That comment stuck with me, and it's honestly true.

I believe that by sharing current happenings in my life, it really does well for my soul. It makes me feel calm in knowing that my day-to-day memories will not be forgotten, and that I will always have a place to come back to when I want to recall a certain time or place. So, although this began as a blog to document my journey through losing weight, it's also a blog about my family and I, living out our life.

During my blog break, I did many things. Weather-wise, I feel as if summer finally began during my break, and we took full advantage of it! My husband, Nick, and I took Piper to the beach for the first time, and spent a lot of time outdoors.

Now that Piper is (oh my gosh) 6 months old, she is really sticking to a bed time and consistently sleeping throughout the night for us. We've got a good routine down and so, my husband and I have begun going out together at least once or twice a week, just the two of us. We have a family member come over around 8 p.m., after Piper has gone to sleep, and they watch the monitor for about an hour or so while Nick and I just go out and do whatever we want. This has been amazing! Last week, we went to the track together. Summer evenings at the track is a favorite past time of ours. We plan to go again and again!

Not only was there a lot of play during my blog break, there was a little bit of work, too. Honestly, I feel a little bad calling this work, because it's so much fun for me. I guess the saying is true: "If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life." - Marc Anthony.

I have been making banners and reclaimed wood signs for the shop (AnythingRustic.Etsy.com) and also to build up inventory in anticipation of our first craft show this fall. Between the summer sun on my back, music from our patio speakers, and a giggling baby by my side; these "work days" of mine, couldn't get any better.

One thing that I love about having my own business is that it requires a lot of organization skills. That just happens to be one of my favorite things to do; organize things. During my blog break, a very special treat came in the mail for me. An Emily Ley planner! I got the academic daily edition; it runs from August 2015 - July 2016. I am very excited to get organized with this planner!

While I was gone, I also had a giveaway up for you all to enter. The winner of the $15 Walmart Gift Card and Balance Bare Bars Giveaway has been selected! An email will has been sent to the winner.

For anyone who entered this giveaway, I want to thank you! In just having one of the best turn-outs yet, with about 750 entries, your participation encourages even more giveaways to come. Actually, there will be another Balance Bar giveaway coming your way this month. You can count on that!
