Instead of Blogging

Lately, instead of blogging, I have been doing other things such as baking scones with my sweet little Piper.




Yesterday was a great day! During Piper's morning nap, I did the "nap-time shuffle" and cleaned the house really fast so that when she woke up we could make scones together. She loves our homemade blueberry scones! The more homemade meals we eat, the more happy my heart. Even better, the blueberries we used were handpicked by us truly this summer! Knowing where our ingredients come from; it doesn't get any better to me.

Now, don't get me wrong, there are days when I pop frozen chicken and fries on a pan into the oven and call it dinner, but; I like to celebrate when we put the effort into something special for our bellies. These blueberry scones; they are very special!

Since Piper is also enjoying these scones with us, I cut the sugar down to 1/4 cup for the entire batch. The blueberries we picked were so sweet, we didn't even miss the sugar one bit!





Instead of blogging, I have also been enjoying more family time. 

This past weekend, time slowed down. It was a rainy fall Saturday and we had no plans; the first Saturday in weeks. This called for a day where you don't get out of your pajamas, you warm the house with treats from the oven and you listen to the father of your child serenade her with sweet songs and his guitar.




My heart may have exploded with love.




I also decided to try something I hadn't tried before: homemade potato gnocchi. I followed this recipe from Delallo (for the most part). I don't have a potato ricer and so I just shredded the potatoes, instead.







I made a lot of gnocchi. It was fairly time consuming (with an 8 month old in the house) but it was so worth the work!




My husband made an Alfredo cheese sauce for the gnocchi. I am literally drooling thinking about it now. Pair that meal with a nice glass of wine; what a wonderful indulgence!




So, if you've been wondering why my posts have been few and far between, there's no real big reason. I think that it hasn't been as much of a habit as it use to be for me. I do want to start writing more often, though. I stay more on track with my goals when I am holding myself accountable by sharing my days, meals and life with you all. So, thank you for sticking by and I hope you'll hear more from me soon!

  1. I try to update 3-4 times per week, but lately I've been feeling somewhat uninspired and just busy and exhausted with working full time and having a 2.5yo and 4yo at home. I'm working on actually scheduling blog time into my week, but it's hard to even find the time to force it into my schedule. I'll get there though! www.loveyourselfhealthy.net

  2. My ideal would be to post on my blog 5 times a week. I just can't seem to carve out time to do that tho. I'd like to stat getting up earlier and do it in the morning, so I wont be rushed at the end of the day!! Someday! :)
