Addicted to Jazzercise

{Psst. Don't forget to enter the Fun Fall Balance Bar Medley GIVEAWAY, here.}

At the beginning of November, I joined a gym. I haven't been apart of the gym since my last break-up in 2012. Read more on that, here: My Bitter Sweet Break-Up.

This new gym is different, though. There are no treadmills or ellipticals; it's a gym for Jazzercise!

I tried a couple Jazzercise classes for free in October and I was instantly hooked! Jazzercise is such a full body workout. I went three times last week and I felt amazing afterward; my knees, however, not so much. I need to either get a couple knee braces or just focus on not pushing myself so hard. The problem is that you don't really realize that you're even "pushing yourself hard" because you are dancing and it's SO MUCH FUN!

At the first of the month, I signed up for 3 months of unlimited Jazzercise classes and I have been so happy about it ever since.

Jazzercise classes are a great excuse to get out of the house (since I stay at home with Piper all day) and I feel good about leaving since I'm working on bettering myself while I'm out. Plus -- it's FUN! I am meeting new people and making new friends. I love the way I feel inside when I get there, while I'm dancing, and of course, afterward.

Happy workout endorphin's are a wonderful thing! They say the endorphin's you feel after working out are similar to the feeling of morphine. No wonder Jazzercise is so addicting!

Jazzercise is the perfect workout for the season that I'm in; I'm almost 10 months postpartum and I just needed something new and fun for my workouts.

My family is very supportive of it, too. Nick, my mother-in-law and my mom all take their turns pitching in during the week to watch Piper for an hour while I escape for my workout. The best thing is that I don't feel guilty leaving Piper behind for that hour. I know it's really good for them all to get that one-on-one time with her, so it's kind of benefiting us all!

Readers, have you ever tried Jazzercise, Zumba or any other kind of dance workouts?

  1. I'm glad you're having fun! Several people in my Weight Watchers group do Jazzercise; I'd love to try it but none of the times are convenient for me right now. I used to do Zumba, before I got pregnant with my second baby; I LOVED it! It was so much fun, you don't even feel like you're "exercising"!

    1. I spoke to the instructor about the knee pain and she made me show her how I was doing some of the moves - turns out I was doing them all wrong! I was balancing most of my weight in my toes - which put all of the pressure on my knees. Hopefully by changing up these moves, it will help!
