My Ultimate Splurge Meal

Can I tell you something? I absolutely love a nice cold beer, some wings and a stuffed pizza. It's my ultimate splurge meal. It's so ridiculously good, my mouth is watering now just thinking about it.

The meal pictured above was the meal that my husband and I shared during our "date night" last week. The day before New Year's eve, Nick and I went out to eat at our favorite local sports bar for his birthday. We had such a great time together! My mother-in-law watched the baby so we didn't have a worry in the world and we could just enjoy ourselves. That is a luxury we don't take for granted!

Blame it on the two Blue Moon's I had at dinner, but while we were out, I decided to take a shameless bathroom mirror selfie. You may have already seen this picture if you follow me on Instagram. My thoughts (while being a little intoxicated) were that "mama doesn't dress up much these days, so why not snap a picture of the occasion". Like I said, no shame.

Also, after seeing this picture again, I feel like I need to make a quick statement about leggings as pants. When people first started wearing leggings as pants (years ago?) I thought to myself, I would never do that! Then I tried it out for myself and well, yes, leggings are pants. Really really comfy pants.

I digress.

The reason I'm sharing our date night from last week with you guys now is because one of my New Year Resolutions for 2016 is to start going on more date nights this year. I'd love to aim for twice a month.

My husband and I have found that it's so important to continue to date each other, especially now that our daughter, Piper, is around. I think it's safe to say that when we get out for a date night, we return home feeling as if someone pressed the reset button on us. We feel so refreshed and centered! After all, this family of ours began because of our love. It truly is the center of our family.

Readers, what is your ultimate splurge meal? Have you ever worn leggings as pants?

  1. YES! Your relationship is the most important. Too many parents put children first and it's refreshing to see your perspective! It's not all about the kids, but you and your husband as the core unit!

    Happy New Year!
