Sick Baby, Busy Mama and Me Time

This past weekend and these past few weekdays have had me going non-stop. I'll start with a couple pictures from this past weekend.

My little 5 year old brother (who will be 6 years old tomorrow) had his fireman themed birthday party at the fire hall this weekend! Piper went and proved that she could hold her own in a room filled with a bunch of 5 and 6 year olds. We let her run around in her walker and she was wild in it! She laughed and squealed as she did laps all around the tables (clearing a path everywhere she went). It was so funny to watch. Piper sure was ready for bed by the end of that party!

Come Sunday morning, Piper woke up with a congested nose and was clearly getting sick. Piper has been struggling since about Christmas time with teething issues and now that her tooth is finally through, she's sick. Piper (and her parents) sure could use a break right about now.

We scheduled a sick visit at Piper's pediatrician's office on Monday. Piper has been tugging at her ears for a couple weeks now, so we wanted to make sure that she didn't have an ear infection on top of it all. Good news: no ear infection. Bad news: the doctor confirmed that she's dealing with a serious post-nasal drip and sore throat. Poor kid. It's sad to hear her so congested (but the faces she makes when she's got a tickle in her nose are downright cute).

With Piper being sick, and Nick being gone for about 15 hours a day between work and night classes, Monday and Tuesday with a sick little was hard. Thankfully, my mom offered to watch Piper for an hour each night so I could go to Jazzercise class.

I think I would have lost my mind if it had not been for my jazzercise classes. On those long days/nights that I'm alone with Piper, I try to think about all those mama's out there that have to do it alone all the time and I just can't even imagine. All the props for those mama's with no or little help! I couldn't do what I do without some help and a little escape for "me time".

Speaking of "doing what I do", I am back in business with the shop! I filled three banner orders yesterday (during Piper's naps) and I just woke up to another order this morning. Since we opened last July, I was curious to see how busy we would be in these winter months. So far, January seems promising for business!

If updates continue to be sporadic, please forgive. Piper's been requiring some extra snuggles this week and I'm loving every moment of it!

Readers, what do you do for your "me time"?

  1. Your Jazzercise picture is making me miss my Zumba classes. :( I used to do Zumba 4 days a week before I had kids. Now my "me time" is going to work for a few hours each afternoon. I think I'm going to start zumba-ing again with the YouTube videos after my husband leaves for work in the mornings while my kids are still sleeping.
