Happy Friday, everybody! A long holiday weekend is here and I'm so excited to spend some time with my family and friends. While the past has proven that it can be hard to stay on track healthy-living wise during holiday weekends, I am going into this particular holiday weekend feeling motivated and inspired to do well for myself.
Yesterday was a great first day of September. I drank a lot of water, stayed within calories for my nutrition and I went for an evening walk, burning over 400 calories.
Last week, I bought myself some new sneakers as a reward for losing 5 pounds. I wore my new sneakers last night during my walk and it felt like I was walking on a cloud. It was wonderful!

Staying within my calorie range for nutrition yesterday has me feeling extra proud because I managed to have a successful day even while eating out for dinner. After running some errands with my sister and tagging along to her doctor's appointment, she treated me to dinner at Panera Bread. It was such a nice time, just the two of us.
My sister will be leaving for Guam in about two weeks to be with her husband in the Air Force and so I'm not exactly sure when I will get to see her again. I'm making sure to cherish all of the time we get to spend together, and I am also making sure that Piper gets to spend some extra time with Aunt Beckah, as well.
Piper loves her Aunt Beckah. They have such a strong bond. It really breaks my heart that Piper is going to go without her "gacka" for so long. Thinking about it brings tears to my eyes and makes it hard for me to swallow.
I'm having a hard time knowing that my sister is moving so far away, but I'm doing a fairly good job at putting my sadness aside so we can enjoy these last moments together. All I can say is thank God for technology; we will be talking to Beckah every day we can.
