I'm Gonna Miss This

Is it just me, or is anyone else having a hard time believing that it's already October? It just doesn't seem right. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love October and Fall in general; I just feel like time is going way too fast. Let me slow things down a bit and tell you what we've been up to lately.

1. Nails painted, aprons on, my girl and I have been doing a lot of Fall baking!

Aside from the cooler weather, the smell of fallen leaves and all of the fun Fall activities we get to participate in, I have to say my favorite thing about Fall is the food that comes with it.

Hello soup season!

We kicked it off right this past weekend when I made homemade copycat Zuppa Toscana with a side of french baguette for dipping. It was out-of-this-world good!

2. Roof leaks and a handy husband.

Last Friday, I woke up to a wet bed. I was a little confused at first, but soon found out that the ceiling was leaking right on top of me. What a way to wake up! Within minutes, my husband was up in the attic, locating the source of the leak. He found it, put a bucket under the drip and then was off to work. Friday was a stressful day because we had so many questions. The biggest questions being whether or not we needed to replace the entire roof.

On Saturday morning, our questions were answered and thankfully, we should be good with just resealing some of the shingles. Fingers crossed that's all we need. My husband will be getting to that this coming weekend. I am so thankful that he is so handy!

3. Cooler weather means I'm back to Jazzercise class.

I don't know about you, but it was hard for me to stay indoors this summer when the weather was warm and beautiful. Now that the weather is cooling off, a nice warm workout indoors is a lot more appealing to me.

I started going back to Jazzercise class last week. I'm aiming for 3 classes a week for the month of October. Last week, I did a total of four classes; a double class on Monday and Wednesday. I had never done back-to-back classes like that before, I just think I am really excited to be back in a workout routine! I didn't want to leave!

4. My October Accountability Group Challenge is up and running!

We have 20 members in this month's accountability group challenge and I'm loving all of the new inspiration and motivation we're sharing in the group, already.

It's hard to have a bad day when I start it out reading all the good my challenge group members are doing for themselves. It makes me want to do better, too! I have great hope for a productive October with my group.

5. I'm going to miss this.

I've been trying to take more time lately to really stop what I'm doing and soak in the beautiful little girl and amazing husband I have right in front of me.

There's a song by Trace Adkins that has been tugging at my heart lately, and it really has given me a new perspective when times get tough (like when the roof is unexpectedly leaking, the toddler is not napping and extremely fussy, etc.). I'll leave you with the lyrics, and hope it brings you a little perspective on this Monday, as well.

"She was staring out that window, of that SUV
Complaining, saying I can't wait to turn 18
She said I'll make my own money, and I'll make my own rules
Mamma put the car in park out there in front of the school
Then she kissed her head and said I was just like you

[Chorus]
You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These Are Some Good Times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this

Before she knows it she's a brand new bride
In a one-bedroom apartment, and her daddy stops by
He tells her It's a nice place
She says It'll do for now
Starts talking about babies and buying a house
Daddy shakes his head and says Baby, just slow down

[Chorus]
You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These Are Some Good Times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this

Five years later there's a plumber workin' on the water heater
Dog's barkin', phone's ringin'
One kid's cryin', one kid's screamin'
She keeps apologizin'
He says They don't bother me.
I've got 2 babies of my own.
One's 36, one's 23.
Huh, it's hard to believe, but ...

[Chorus]
You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These Are Some Good Times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this
You're gonna miss this
Yeah, you're gonna miss this"
