Mid-Month Check-In: December 2016

So, it's the middle of December and I've finally recovered from my over-indulgence during Thanksgiving week! Woo-woo! (That's what we say when we're excited in our house, in accordance with a fist pump in the air -- my toddler does it best, too.)

I weighed in this morning and I was happy to find that I was down to 244.5 lbs. That's right around the weight that I was before Thanksgiving and it's a total of 3 lbs. down from the beginning of the month!

I'm really surprised that I am down in weight because I did over-indulge this past weekend at my husband's company Christmas party. However, the weight came right off after just a few days of being on track. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, actually. If you put in the work and stay on track, you should see results. That's what it's all about, right?

The rest of this month is going to be a lot like this past week; a balancing act. I'll be balancing some indulgences (like homemade sugar cookies that are currently in the works) with lots of water and the good-for-you stuff, too.




Speaking of sugar cookies, today I am trying a new recipe, here: The Best Rolled Sugar Cookie Recipe. I'm not sure if it really is the best sugar cookie recipe but I can tell you that the raw cookie dough did taste quite good. 




After Piper's play date this morning, we decided we needed to make some cookies to get even more into the Christmas spirit (and by we, I mean me). 

 


I do intend to freeze most of the cookies, but some raw cookie dough has already been consumed by the both of us. Who can resist? I am really loving this cookie diet I'm on. If you're interested, you can read all about my cookie diet, here: The Cookie Diet.




Piper's play date this morning was a cute, spontaneous visit from a friend and her son. She text me this morning to see if we were free, and we were and so they came over just a couple hours later. I love it when things work out like that!




The kids exchanged gifts and they "made soup" in the kid's kitchen. They looked so cute cooking together. Both the mama's and the kids ended up wearing matching outfits, which was really funny and not planned at all.




Right now, Piper is napping and the cookie dough is chilling in the refrigerator. When she wakes up, we will roll out the dough and Piper will help me cut out the cookies. 

Instead of traditional snowflakes cutouts and such, we are actually going to be using an animal cookie cutter set that Nick and I bought at a gift shop while I was pregnant with Piper. 




This moment when we can finally use the cookie cutters together has been a long time coming. I get emotional thinking back to the anticipation we had while purchasing these cookie cutters for Piper and I to use one day, and now; that day is finally here. My mama heart is full.
