Recap of a Sluggish Monday

This past weekend wasn't as eventful as previous weekends. I spent the entire weekend recovering from whatever kind of cold I caught last week. Truth be told, I did the minimum this weekend; the most productive thing I did was go to church and our CORE class afterward.

I tried to push the fluids a lot so I could start feeling better, faster. Sometimes it's hard for me to drink water when I have a sore throat so, my husband found these Bai drinks for me, instead. At only 5 calories per serving and 1 gram of sugar, they were a big hit in our house this weekend.

On Monday, I finally felt more like myself. I was still a little sluggish though, so Piper and I just hung around the house for most of the day. First thing, I did some laundry and starting making out a dinner plan for the week ahead.

Despite not wanting to go through the trouble of making a smoothie for breakfast {remember, I was sluggish, sluggish, sluggish}, I was sure glad I put in the effort after I drank it. 

I made a cacao banana smoothie with whey protein, frozen strawberries and coconut milk. It made me feel a little better, and perked me up to about half of my normal status.

After making my smoothie, I got dinner rolling in the crock pot. For dinner, we had Slow-Cooker Spaghetti Squash and Meatballs. That meal is one of the easiest, healthy meals I have in my arsenal right now so, having all of the ingredients on hand to start the slow cooker in the morning was a sure win for my low-energy Monday.

After dinner, Nick, Piper and I went grocery shopping as our big outing for the day. We stocked up on everything we needed for my meal plan this week. I am determined to stick to my meal plan and not eat out this week!

If you remember from last week, I made myself a goal of losing 10 pounds this month and, while getting sick usually means weight-gain for me, I am trying hard to stay on track so that doesn't happen. 

I made a conscious effort this weekend to avoid comfort food as much as possible. Whenever I am uncomfortable {i.e. sick}, comfort food is my go-to. I know this about myself and so, I kept reminding myself that overindulging in comfort food wasn't going to actually make me feel better. 

I'm happy to say I made it through my weekend on track and with no regrets. I am going to be weighing in on Thursdays this month so, my first weigh-in is in two days. I am motivated and determined to see a difference on the scale!

  1. I can't function without a meal plan. Okay, maybe can't is too strong of a word, but my weeks go much smoother if I have a plan. I sometimes change the plan but knowing that I have the ingredients to make a week's worth of meals lowers my stress level so much!
