I Didn't Think I Could Do It

Remember when I said that running and I have a love-hate relationship. Well, these past couple days I have been loving it!

I ran my fastest mile two nights ago. I didn't think I could do it, but a lot of supportive people thought I could, so I went out there and did it!

I didn't think I could run a 12 minute mile. My goal for September was to run a 12:30 minute mile, because even that was a challenge a couple weeks ago. I just didn't think I had it in me to run a 12 minute mile.

When I love running, like I do today, I love it because it takes me places I never thought I could go. Note to future self: Life truly begins beyond your comfort zone. You just have to push yourself there.

I told myself that I wasn't going to weigh myself until Sunday, but I gave in early and checked-in this morning. I am still hanging in there at 231 lbs; same as last weekend. This is bitter-sweet. Bitter because I just want to be out of the 230's already and sweet because I didn't gain any weight from the picnic food I ate during Labor Day!

Last night, I had a dream about running. I was running the Color Run and I was passing people. I was running the entire 5K, and I felt great. I think that it's time to just come out and say that I want to be able to run a 5K without stopping one day. Last night, I did it in my dreams, and it felt amazing. The goal of running a 5K without stopping scares me, but; I've also heard that if you're dreams don't scare you, you aren't dreaming big enough. I'm literally dreaming about this, so I am determined to make it a reality. It will take a while, but if running has taught me anything it has taught me that if you don't give up, you'll get to where you want to be.

  1. Yay! Great job on cutting down your mile time!

  2. Is your mile run your whole workout? I'm just wondering, because I know studies say that in order to lose weight, we need at least 150 minutes a week of moderate to vigorous exercise. Just trying to help with some advice on how you might be able to break out of your weight loss rut :) Great job on your mile though!
