Great Things About This Week

This week has been really great!

I woke up on Monday, the start of my 11th week of pregnancy, feeling motivated to eat healthy. This is a great improvement from previous weeks; when I was just eating whatever made me the least nauseous.

On July 1st, I decided to start doing something that I haven't done in a while. I decided to start tracking what I'm eating, again. My eating habits have been all over the place since week 6 of pregnancy. Some days, I feel like I'm not eating enough for the baby and other days I can't believe how much I ate (especially lately).

Tracking my food makes me feel good. It's a step in the right direction. I'm not really limiting myself on what I can and can't eat, but I am trying to fit in more healthy choices throughout the day. I'm also not limiting myself on calories. I believe my body seems to be doing a pretty good job at feeding itself what it needs. I've been eating around 2,300 - 2,500 calories, intuitively, and I think that's pretty good for somebody at my weight (233 lbs) while pregnant.

Speaking about my weight, I have stayed around 233 lbs. throughout the first trimester, so far. That is my pre-pregnancy weight and I spoke to my doctor and she is okay with this. Since I was overweight when I became pregnant, it isn't uncommon not to gain much more weight during the first trimester. I know people who have actually lost weight during pregnancy because they started out obese when getting pregnant. However, losing weight during pregnancy is not my goal by any means. I'm mostly eating intuitively and trusting my body during this stage!

Despite not gaining weight, I am losing room in my pants. The baby is growing! I have been slightly uncomfortable in my clothes this week. This morning, I found one of the only remaining pieces of clothing that fits me comfortable. A long, maxi dress. I am so thankful for warm weather and dresses right about now!
