Thanksgiving 2016

Thanksgiving was over a week ago now, so I guess I better share a few pictures from our day before it gets any further away from me.

Thanksgiving morning was really, really special. We all ate breakfast while watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in the living room. It's an annual tradition, after all.

Watching the parade always makes me shed a tear or two. The nostaligia of the parade especially got to me this year as I watched it along with my husband and our daughter (the daughter we never knew we could have). The holidays just have a certain kind of magic in them with Piper around.

After eating breakfast, Piper got out of her high chair and started dancing to the music playing from the parade. She asked Nick and I to dance with her, so at one point all three of us were dancing in front of the t.v., along with the parade. It was one of those moments you never want to forget.

We ate Thanksgiving lunch at my nana and papa's house. Piper didn't really eat much on Thanksgiving, just a few bites here and there. She was too busy having fun with all of our family!

And this mama was very thankful to sneak in a few snuggles at lunch time, as Piper played shy with my cousin, Dustin.

After eating lunch and spending some time with our family on my mom's side, we went back home so Piper could take her afternoon nap. When she woke up, we went over to Nick's Busha's house to visit with that side of the family.

Piper had so much with visiting with her Uncle Jason (Nick's brother) and his girlfriend, Erica, that night. They really seemed to enjoy their time with her and were very patient during a couple of her meltdowns (from having such a busy day).

Despite a little evening crankiness, Piper had a lot of fun at Busha's. She especially loved the time she spent playing the slot machine with her second cousins, in the game room.

While we didn't get to see all sides of our family this Thanksgiving, we were thankful for the time we had with the ones we were able to be with on that day.

At the end of the day, our hearts and our bellies were full.
