Thanksgiving Break Recap + Festival of the Trees | 2021

Hello! I almost wanted to say, "Hello and happy Monday!" but it's not Monday. It's Tuesday, even better!

I think it feels like a Monday because this is the first day since Thanksgiving break started where Piper is back to school, and we're all back to our usual routines. I woke up ready to be productive today, and I'd say it's truly happening because I am caught up with my list enough to sit down and type out this quick blog post before noon!

I started working on getting back on track with my water intake and tracking my nutrition yesterday. It definitely helped me feel less bloated and icky from all of the Thanksgiving food and treats that just seemed to linger on all throughout the weekend. I am up a couple pounds on the scale but, I'm not worried about that one bit. I know it will go away as soon as I get a few days of being back on track under my belt.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, we had a really nice and relaxing holiday. I didn't take many pictures on Thanksgiving day and so I'll just have to share how wonderful it was in words. After we woke up, Piper and I put on our aprons and cooked our entire breakfast together while Nick played with Delaney. Those moments together in the kitchen were truly special.

While Delaney napped, we watched some of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. Then, we grabbed our chocolate cool whip cookies and headed over to my moms for lunch.

It was a small and relaxed gathering. We stayed for a few hours before going home to snuggle on the couch and watch Christmas movies.

Over the weekend, we went to the Festival of Trees event. It was so beautiful and we were happy to find there was a lot for Piper to do while we were there. We got to visit with real reindeer, write a card to Santa, ride around on a train, get a stuffed animal checked at the clinic and meet with Santa! Delaney did not want to get too close to Santa but Piper was very excited to chat with him!

It snowed enough this weekend for Piper and Nick to go sled riding with some friends. It is finally starting to feel like Christmas isn't too far off, now. We began to decorate the house and will do even more decorating for Christmas after we host Delaney's first birthday party this weekend!

I have a lot of prep to do for Laney's birthday party on Saturday and so if you don't hear from me until next week, that would be why! In the meantime, I'm going to try to keep focusing on my health goals as best I can. I find during the busy times like this self care (like sticking to my goals, feeding myself healthy foods, drinking enough water) is more important than ever!

Make sure to take some time to treat yourself well this week. See you back here, soon!

Delaney Jane: Eleven Months

This is it. The last monthly update before my last baby turns one. If I'm being honest, this one is the most bittersweet of them all.

Delaney is growing so quickly! She started walking at 11 months and she's so proud of herself when she does. We are pretty proud of her, too!

She has 5 teeth right now and we're guessing her 6th tooth will break through before she's officially twelve months old. She points at the light when we say "light" and points to the dogs when we say "dog". We haven't gotten to repeating those words yet. She currently says "dada", "mama" (sparingly) and "dis" for "this" (and everything is "this"). Her voice is so sweet to hear.

Delaney just recently went through a nap transition. Up until 11 months old, she taking two shorter naps but has lately been taking one long nap, usually from 9:30-12:30. Here is what her schedule has looked like since daylight savings time.

6:30am - wake up
7:00am - bottle
8:00am - breakfast
9:30am - nap
12:30pm - wake up
12:45pm - bottle
1:00pm - lunch
4:00pm - bottle
5:00pm - dinner
6:00pm - bath
6:30pm -bottle
7:00pm - bedtime

She still wakes up 1 - 2 times each night.

Here are some more recent pictures of Laney.

Delaney Jane, we are so grateful for you. We have loved getting to know you all of these months. It has been so exciting to see you grow and learn more every day! You are so sweet and cuddly. You give the best hugs. Your smile is so bright and heart warming. You are such a joy. We love you so much!
